This one night when I was about 10, my father came down from the attic with a four string tenor guitar that he used to play. I never had any idea that he could play and sing. I don't even think my mother knew. He knew about three cords, but he would strum that thing and sing these romantic, sweet, swingin' old 40's tunes. Stuff that Bing Crosby might sing.
It was beautiful, and I was hooked. I took those three cords and worte them down and practiced the fingering every day, even when I was in school, and the guitar wasn't with me. Then the beatles hit....
